HELICAL CASTING REEL CO. – England
The Helical Reel Co. was founded by A.E. Rudge in the early 1930s> Rudge, who had worked for Illingworth prior to setting out on his own designed, built and marketed a reel that was very similar to the early Illingworth #2 and #3 reels. Rudge held patents for his reels and sold them in two different sizes, a trout and a salmon size. The reel had slight improvements made to it over the years and sold well putting a big dent in Illingworth's business.
