ILLINGWORTH – England
Illingworth reels were made in England and are reputed to have been the first spinning reel ever produced. The first version of the Illingworth reel looks very little like the spinning reels of today and was referred to as a Threadline Reel.
Illingworth went on to make four subsequent versions of the Illingworth spinning reel and within each different version, there were often variations. The later Illingworth reels are marked with their numbers - Illingworth No.2 - Illingworth No.3 - Illingworth No.4 - and the - Illingworth No.5.
