JOSEPH MARTINA – Hillside, N.J.
Nothing is known about Joseph Martina of Hillside, New Jersey except that he built at least one beautiful big game fishing reel in 1938. This 14/0 size reel has a star style drag on the handle side as well as an auxiliary drag on the opposite side of the reel. One of this reel's unique features is its crank handle which can be extended out to give the angler more leverage while winding in line. The reel also came with a fixed size crank handle, a hard-sided case and a set of tools for working on the reel. To date, only one of Martinez's wonderful reels has been found but collectors are hoping more show up some day.
